As 2007 comes to a close and we are busy giving those great year end deals and planning our President’s Club trips, lets look to 2008. Are you looking forward to another year of great success or are you wondering how much life your current gig sucks out of you? One of our Sales Warriors helped us put together this quick reference guide for those who wonder if its time to change careers.
Its Time to Change Jobs When
10) Your CEO’s personality is a mild blend of bi-polar disorder mixed with short-term memory problems.
9) During onsite sales presentations your newly hired EVP of Sales and Marketing falls asleep; only to be awaken by your prospects.
8 ) While presenting to the selection committee of your largest potential client, your CIO incorrectly responds to a question regarding the product’s capability – only to be corrected by the Biz Dev Director.
7) The CIO directs your programming team to adjust their focus towards efforts to “blinging” up the Login page, causing your largest existing client to abandon the system due to significant delays in key functionality.
6) Your CEO requires all of your clients to have some “skin in the game”. “Skin in the Game” turns out to be CEO-speak for “Over Pay”
5) Your CEO receives an email chain describing a problem with your largest client and their largest client. He crafts an internal response that includes profanity and a great amount of ridicule – then accidentally hits “reply to all”.
4) The CEO changes the pricing terms AFTER the verbal agreement has been reached with the Board of Directors of the 2nd largest client. This causes #3.
3) The Board of the 2nd largest client is now the Board of the 2nd largest former client.
2) Teaching the fundamentals of client service, partnership relations, Microeconomics, and strategic selling to your CEO and EVP has become your full-time position.
1) The amount of “undocumented product features” (The non-warrior refers to these as “bugs”) reaches such a high level that your only line of defense is “accidentally” kicking the power plug out of the wall during a web presentation.
